Kamal Chunchie and the Hidden World of Britain's Immigrant Seafarers

On 31st July 2023, we held an event celebrating Kamal Chunchie and the history of London's seafarers, at Good Hotel in the Royal Docks. We held a screening of our film Kamal Chunchie and the Coloured Men's Institute, followed by a panel discussion with Assembly Member Unmesh Desai, Newham Councillor Dr Rohit Dasgupta, and Campaigner Rita Chadha, who presented on the history of London's South Asian population along with contemporary immigrant experiences.
