Guided Walk of the Docklands

Researcher Asif Shakoor led a guided walk around the Docklands for us, sharing his family's fascinating history. Participants discovered what happened when Asif’s grandfather, Mahomed Gama arrived at the Royal Victoria Dock on The SS Khiva in 1917, along with the mystery of his missing medals. Asif’s inspiring walk shared the stories of seafarers who docked at the Royal Victoria and Royal Albert Docks between 1899 to 1955, unravelling the secrets of sea burials and seaman rests.
